On the Saturday of March 19, 2022, faithful from all walks of life thronged Tumsifu Center at the heart of Kisumu City to witness the solemn installation of Most Rev. Maurice Muhatia Makumba as the third archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kisumu.

Archbishop Muhatia had been received officially, the previous day, at Awasi, the border of Kericho and Kisumu. The then bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru made his way through to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Milimani, which in the earlier years served as the first point of evangelization by missionaries who used to travel from Kisumu to Nakuru.
