In recent times you must have noticed the voice of the Catholic Church in Kenya becoming louder and bolder as the country draws closer to the General Elections set for August 9, 2022.
While the bishops and priests have taken to the altar to preach peace and call for fair elections, the Association of Sisterhoods of Kenya (AOSK), a body that brings together all the Catholic sisters in Kenya has taken the message to the doorsteps of the people.
Through the AOSK Justice and Peace Department, the sisters have made use of their intricate network to preach peace across the 25 dioceses in the country.
“In every diocese, nearly in every parish, there are sisters, even in the interior parts of this country. We have formed AOSK units in the dioceses. Every unit has a leadership, they are the ones who coordinate the activities. They come over for training and then they get back to disseminate the same information to the Christians and the community,” Sr Benedetta Nzioka of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart
