COVID-19 Pandemic, Reopening of Schools, and Pregnant Teenagers

Parents and communities are very eager to see schools reopen, but understandably concerned about the health and safety of the children with regard to prevention and containment of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is important to note that the re-opening of schools has its benefits.  The closure of schools since March 2020 has seen teenage pregnancies sky rocketing and many children disappearing from home with almost all counties reporting large cases of pregnant teens.  According to United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), nearly one in five girls aged 15-19 in Kenya have already had a baby or are pregnant <<readmore>>
