Is the Social Media Taking Over Our Social Life?

By Admin | 0 Comment
YOUTH TALK

Today the social media plays an important role in everyone’s lives. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is to check trending topics on Twitter.

Kenyans On twitter or KOT as commonly known, have today almost become the main source of breaking news. You are likely to get news faster on Twitter than in the mainstream media.

The social media thus plays an important role as a source of information such that all the media houses across the world have social media pages.

Social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter allow users to meet new people with interests similar to theirs and even create virtual relationships. People use these sites not only to communicate but also to keep in touch with friends and relatives.

Social media platforms are gaining popularity each day due to ever increasing number of new users. From high school students to university students to housewives and even the working class, social sites have taken most time of their lives.

The benefits of social media if used well cannot be underestimated. Today, we can contact anyone around the world at any time, with just a few keystrokes. It is free.

We can also share elements of our life, from what we enjoy to photos of ourselves and those in our lives. It is like being a part of that person’s world, even though distance keeps you apart.
