It is not uncommon for first time university students to experience culture shock. For most, it is the first time they truly experience the freedom to do as they want. They get to choose where they want to live, what to eat, how to dress, who to become friends with, and even whether to attend classes or not. The strict rules and routine of high school and home are gone. Nobody is watching.
Add youthful energy to that freedom, and you have a student at cross roads.
