Solutions to Youth Crisis

The crisis facing the youth is complex because the challenges of the youth are diverse. The crisis is also determined by the social, cultural and economic realities which will always vary. That makes it difficult to arrive at a pinpoint solution. However, we can identify various spheres which must be watched if we are to find a way out of the labyrinth.

Environment: Like nature relies very much on environment, growth and survival of the person is determined by the climate. Like the biblical seed that fell on fertile ground, the youth crisis must be understood from the environmental point of view. The major players in this crisis must clean up house. A perfect example, is the recent report that as the country battles the covid-19 pandemic, over three thousand school-going girls are already battling with teenage pregnancies.

It’s interesting as it is shocking to hear some teachers remarking, ‘the parents thought we do nothing. Now that they have them at home, they know what it means to shoulder them for three months’.
