The Blessing of Raising Children with Special Needs

Do you know the fascinating story of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah, the Ghanaian athlete and advocate for people with disabilities?

Emmanuel was born in Ghana in 1977.  It turned out he had a severely deformed right leg. This was at a time when children with disabilities were frowned upon, often hidden or abandoned by their parents.  His father, unable to deal with the disability, absconded, leaving Emmanuel’s mother to raise him.

Now, the father must be forgiven for his lack of foresight into the potential of the child he was abandoning. Had he known what an amazing young man his son would grow into, it is likely he would never have left.  The reality is that we cannot see into
