The Online Youths

According to the Internet World Statistics Organization, over 46 million Kenyans are active internet users going by a study carried out at the end of June, 2019. This figure, shows that in the last 19 years alone, the number of Kenyans actively on internet use has shot up from a mere 200,000 to the mind boggling figure in millions with about 7 million using the busiest platform Facebook.

In a separate study by the Communications Authority of Kenya, between August 2018 and August 2019, 57% of Kenyans were actively on Facebook. This followed by Pinterest at 23% and Twitter at 13%. Instagram, Youtube and LinkedIn recorded less than 5% activity.

These data clearly indicates the level of internet usage has increased exponentially over the last few years, bringing into the question the elusive matter of regulation for the users.
